Chris Stites

Assistant Vice President, Senior Credit Analyst

Chris brings 30 years of banking experience across Commercial, Small Business, and Private Banking. His interest in small businesses was sparked at a young age, inspired by his father, who owned and operated a veterinary practice for 49 years in a small rural community. With a strong analytical mindset and a passion for numbers, Chris sought to combine his skills and interests into a meaningful career in banking.

He began as a Commercial Credit Underwriter and quickly advanced to team lead, eventually managing a small business lending team working with 2 loan officers and 30 branch managers focused on loans of $500,000 and under. This role included working with SBA loans—his first exposure to the program. He later served as a Private Banking Officer, underwriting business loans and offering consumer lending and deposit products.

In 2019, Chris joined First Internet Bank as the first Underwriter in its new SBA program. He played a key role in building and leading the credit team – rapidly advancing from team lead to eventual manager of 19 teammates, helping the program grow from infancy into a top-10 SBA lender nationwide within four years.

A lifelong Hoosier, Chris earned a double Bachelor’s degree in Finance and an MBA from Ball State University. He enjoys college basketball, golf and football —especially cheering on the Indianapolis Colts as a 6+_ year season ticket holder. Outside of work, he stays active at the gym, enjoys long walks with his wife and dog, plays golf, participates in a local pinball club, and loves traveling to places like Disney, Nantucket, and Italy.
